Course Summary:

In Design, Technology and Engineering, students use the design and solution realisation process to engineer solutions for the development of products or systems.

This subject aims to extend students' knowledge of the principles of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and technical drawing techniques, and also to provide an opportunity for them to express themselves through graphic communication. This will include things such as exploring the design process, product development, realistic rendering, engineering drawings and animation. This subject fosters critical thinking and creativity, equipping students with valuable skills applicable to high-demand fields such as engineering, architecture, game design, product design, and the like.

An externally marked Resource Study related to the major product will also be completed.

Course Content:

  • Practical CAD skill development tasks
  • Identification of a need or problem
  • Investigation of existing similar ideas toward possible solution(s)
  • Sketches and Computer Aided Design of a proposed solution
  • Virtual production of the solution using specialised CAD software
  • Evaluation of the completed solution
