Assumed knowledge: 8 Design & Technology or 9 Materials

Course Summary

This subject aims to develop students’ practical skills in producing standardised joinery systems and increasingly complex machine-based processes to safely produce a small table based on their CAD design.

Students who have completed the course could continue undertaking the following pathways within the SACE framework at Emmaus:

  • Stage 1 Material Solutions
  • Stage 1 Industrial & Entrepreneurial Solutions

  • Skills task (desk tidy or corner joint)
  • Investigation – establishment of a design brief, exploration of other existing products
  • Planning – sketches (possible designs, chosen design), CAD (renders & engineering drawing)
  • Production – safety, measuring/marking-out, processes, finishing
