Mother's Day pop-up shop building empathy and gratitude

  • From the Director, Early Learning Centre

The children of the Early Learning Centre engaged in a special experience, where they visited our Mother’s Day pop-up shop to choose special gifts for their Mum.

With great excitement and care, the children thoughtfully selected a present, considering what might bring joy to their mum. The room was filled with smiles, excitement, and anticipation as they waited for their turn to select.

This joyful activity beautifully reflected key principles of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), especially the outcomes related to Identity and Wellbeing. By participating in this experience, children developed a sense of belonging and connection to their family and community, while also building independence and decision-making skills.

Choosing a gift involved more than just picking an item, it encouraged empathy, gratitude, and love, core values that support their holistic development.

As they placed their chosen gifts in their gift bags with care, we were reminded that the simple act of giving allows our young learners to express appreciation in a meaningful way and reflect on the blessings of family.

It was a precious reminder of how small hands can show big love, and how early learning experiences, grounded in faith, help shape kind, thoughtful individuals.
