From the Head of Junior School

  • Brooklyn Park Campus News

The highlight of my first week in Term 4 was undoubtedly the moment I sat down to look at the creative plans for a new Nature Playground Area – suggestions designed by our Foundation and Year 5 students!

I was scheduled to meet with the Architect, Project Manager, Business Manager and AISSA consultant to plan our outdoor play areas for the ECC site at Brooklyn Park. What better way to prepare for this meeting than take inspiration from our own current students, so their ideas could be embraced as part of the planning process of our new expanding community!

I had posed the following questions to our Junior School students:

  • How do you like to play?
  • What do you want to be able to do when you are outside?
  • What would you like to do with your friends while outside?
  • Are there things you would like to have outside so you can build, play, make, design and create?

The childrens' designs were inspiring. As we perused these plans we noticed common themes – not just within year levels, but across year levels. It is from these designs that we have been inspired to produce a list of criteria for our Architect. He will now use the inspiration taken from these plans, to insert common criteria into the plans for our new Nature Playground Area at Brooklyn Park. We look forward to sharing these with you not too far into the future.

No matter what the day to day responsibilities look like for each of us as staff, parents, extended family and friends, we are able to walk hand in hand with Jesus to join Him on His mission. How blessed are we to do everything in partnership with our Lord Jesus Christ?
