More about Emmaus Christian College
We present the Early Years Learning Framework through a Christian worldview, where every child is recognised as a unique creation of God. Learning is enriched through play-based learning, Reggio Emilia principles and nature play, supporting children to grow in confidence, curiosity and wonder.
A balanced learning environment
Our Early Learning Centre has been intentionally designed to offer a rich variety of engaging, joyful and stimulating learning spaces that nurture curiosity and creativity. Children are encouraged to explore and delight in the natural environment God created, fostering a sense of awe, care and responsibility for His world.
The ELC environment is thoughtfully balanced between indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as fixed and movable materials, allowing children the freedom to explore, imagine and create. These play-based learning experiences support healthy risk-taking, problem-solving and resilience in a safe and nurturing setting.
Children are given the flexibility to navigate and engage with materials that spark curiosity, promote wellbeing and inspire wonder — providing meaningful pathways into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) inquiry from an early age.
Reggio Emilia inspired learning
Our learning approach is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, where the environment is thoughtfully designed as a “third educator”, intentionally inviting curiosity, creativity and discovery each day. Children are encouraged to express their learning in many ways — through art, movement, language, construction and play — honouring their individual strengths and interests.
We value each child’s prior knowledge and life experiences, nurturing meaningful relationships with God and one another as we build a strong, caring community. Children are supported to ask questions, explore ideas and engage in inquiry, while developing emotional intelligence, respect and responsibility within a loving classroom culture. Learning journeys are carefully documented, celebrating each child’s growth, thinking and understanding.
