Sports Program

At Emmaus Christian College, students enjoy lessons taught by specialist Health and Physical Education teachers, utilizing the indoor gymnasium, outside courts and oval.

Our vision for the Sports program is to encourge students to develop a healthy lifestyle, develop God-given talents, be equipped to make positive contributions to the ministry of their church, and to provide opportunities to develop skills for a vocation in these areas or for general interest.  The Foundation to Year 10 Physical Education Curriculum aims to teach students the skills and rules of a wide variety of individual and team-based sports so they can pursue a sport that is of interest to them.  SACE Stage 1 and 2 Physical Education provides students with the knowledge and skills to pursue a career path or tertiary studies in this area of interest.

Students have the opportunity to participate in a range of School, Inter-school, Southern Zone After School Sports, SAPSASA, SASSSA and SACSA competitions.  Some of the individual and team sports that are offered by the College promoting and developing team work, community and resilience include:

  • Athletics
  • Basketball
  • Cross Country
  • Netball
  • Soccer
  • Table Tennis
  • Tennis
  • Other (as determined by interest)

In addition, Years 1-6 students participate in a Water Safety Education Program early in Term 1 and Swimming Carnivals are held for both Junior School and Middle/Senior School students during the summer months.

The College understands and endeavours to promote the benefits of being active, and that living a healthy lifestyle through sport or recreational activities can have significant benefits for the health and welfare of students now and into the future.
