Course Summary:

In Design and Technology, students apply their knowledge and understanding of technological concepts to the investigation, analysis, development, and communication of ideas for product or systems design, production, and evaluation. This requires research of various design considerations including the impact of technological practices, products, or systems on individuals, society, and/or the environment.

Semester content:

Material Products – students use a range of manufacturing technologies such as tools, machines, equipment, and/or systems to design and make products with resistant materials. Contexts include wood and recyclable materials.

Assessments:

  • Solar Powered Vehicle from recyclable materials and evaluate their product.
  • Furniture construction, students investigate, design using CAD, and manufacture a coffee table using a variety of machines, powered and hand tools, then evaluate their finished product.
